Dirty Freehub, the Bend-based nonprofit known for its curated gravel cycling routes, has released its newest guidebook: Deschutes River Basin Gravel Guide. This book invites riders to explore the most scenic and diverse gravel routes in Central Oregon.
The 64-page, pocket-sized guide features 10 handpicked gravel routes spanning the greater Deschutes River Basin—from Maupin and Tygh Valley in the north to La Pine in the south, and from Sisters to Prineville east to west. Each route highlights the region’s beautiful terrain, river canyons, forests, and high desert landscapes shaped by the Deschutes River and its tributaries.
The guide blends detailed route information with local history, culture, and artistic interpretation. Riders will find overview maps, points of interest, and insights into the landscapes and communities that define the region.
“This guide is about more than just riding bikes—it’s about connecting people to place,” said Dirty Freehub co-founder Linda English. “We want riders to experience the stories, the landscapes, and the communities that make Central Oregon such a special gravel destination.”
The Collector’s Edition is limited to just 500 copies and includes a signature from featured Central Oregon artist Jennifer Ware-Kempcke, whose artwork is showcased throughout the book. Each copy is marked with a special Collector’s Edition stamp, making it a unique keepsake for cyclists and outdoor enthusiasts alike.
In addition to the print guide, readers gain access to a comprehensive digital companion featuring GPX downloads, ride videos, photos, rider comments, and podcasts—bridging the tactile experience of a printed book with online navigation.

This release marks Dirty Freehub’s fourth guidebook and continues its mission to inspire gravel cycling adventures while promoting stewardship, community connection, and rural economic vitality.
