Wolf Tooth hubs are engineered and machined in-house from aerospace-grade 7075-T6 aluminum and run on the ENVE INNERDRIVE system. Our angular form hub shells bring the Wolf Tooth design language to wheel building for the first time, and are available in three modern shapes destined to become instant classics. Straight Pull Road / Gravel and XC / Trail hubs feature aggressive machining and smart material use for weight reduction without sacrificing durability. Our J-Bend hubs, built for anything from aggressive trail to DH riding, have their own unique, oversized aesthetic that aligns with the bombproof nature of their design. J-Bend front hubs accommodate a standard 15mm boost or 20mm front axle.
All Wolf Tooth Hubs are available in six Color Shop anodized finishes to match your other Wolf Tooth components and accessories. More hub colors will be available at a later date.
Hub Development
Our overarching goal when we began the hub development process was balance. We began by establishing what attributes make a great hub:
- Rolling Efficiency
- Bearing and Hub Shell Durability
- Optimized Weight
- Ease of Service
- Options and Compatibility
Our next step was ride testing in all five Minnesota seasons: Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter, and Salt Season (IYKYK). We benchmarked the performance of what was available in the market, including specialty hubs designed for more niche applications. We saw tradeoffs in designs that had an imbalance in our benchmark criteria. If a hub is too light you begin to impact axle, drive system, and hub shell durability, certain drive systems can reduce bearing life, how easy is a hub to live with and service…with this data, we were able to see a clear path forward.
Once we had established a clear benchmark, we set to engineering. We iterated and explored our own proprietary drive system in design and prototyping. We came to the conclusion that the ENVE INNERDRIVE System not only hit our benchmark targets, it excelled in each category and gave us the balance we were looking for. At this point, we utilized our network of ride testers and athletes around the world to pressure test and fine tune our design.
The result is a balanced hub that is optimized for pure performance and extreme durability, with a beautifully machined hub shell that is easy to service and configure to suit a wide range of rider preferences. The INNERDRIVE internals provide high rolling efficiency, prolonged bearing life, and immediate, zero flex engagement. Our hubs are precision engineered and machined at Wolf Tooth HQ to be at the heart of road, gravel, and MTB riders’ next high performance wheel build.

At launch, Wolf Tooth Hubs are available in the following configurations:

The Perfect Preload system eliminates the need for bearing preload adjustments using a tuned wave washer. Bearing preload is optimized and set during hub assembly (and during repeat tear down and re-assembly during service) and dynamically adjusts over the life of the hub. Simply torque the hub to spec. No special tools required.
The oversized INNERDRIVE ratchet rings found inside Wolf Tooth Hubs provide numerous benefits over traditional ratchet style hubs. First, the larger 42mm diameter drive rings allow for higher engagement tooth counts without sacrificing durability. Next, riders have the option of choosing between a 40T PRO*, 60T, 80T, or 100T drive ratchet to tune hub engagement and prioritize lower drag or quicker engagement. With the highest tooth count, our hubs will engage in as little as 3.6 degrees. Finally, this is paired with the Perfect Preload system which delivers tool-free, adjustment-free preload on the hub internals for prolonged bearing life, minimal maintenance, and reduced drag.
*40T PRO Ratchet: To save weight, the standard ratchet’s diameter is reduced, and additional material is milled out for weight savings. When paired with the INNERDRIVE ratchet spring, which applies a minimal amount of force to the drive rings, this delivers reliable hub engagement with minimal ratchet drag. The 40T PRO ratchet is our preferred setup, and ships stock in all Wolf Tooth Road / Gravel Hubs.
Wolf Tooth Hubs require no special tools for maintenance, and our refined hub geometry incorporates many features that make living with and servicing our hubs easy. Our straight pull hubs use anti-twist, no-touch spoke drillings that are engineered specifically for straight pull spokes. All hubs feature consistent spoke lengths per wheelset. Hubs use standardized bearing sizes across front and rear hubs. Riders can quickly and easily swap ratchets for customized engagement, and a circlip holds the oversized steel ratchets in place ensuring your freehub and ratchets won’t fall out during trailside or shop maintenance. There is no manually set preload, simply torque the end cap to spec and perfect preload is set, every time.
