I got wind of this development from several courses while I was wandering about the 2026 Sea Otter Classic show in Monterey, California. Now it is confirmed, 2025 Unbound winner, Cameron Jones will race this prototype 32″ Scott gravel bike at the 2026 Unbound gravel race in Emporia, Kansas. Adding to this, another Scott athlete will join Cameron Jones and the 32″ party, Robin Gemperle, winner of the 2025 Tour Divide and Silk Road Mountain race.

The bike of Robin Gemperle

Quote by Cameron Jones: “This bike makes you feel like you’re levitating over the surface. I’ll be experiencing a road race while everybody else is racing gravel! The driving traction and cornering grip is revolutionary. I’m genuinely scared how fast I’ll be able to corner once on a course with proper descents.”

“I’m genuinely scared how fast I’ll be able to corner” sounds like absolute BS marketing speak, but admittedly, this bike is a publicity magnet, and draws attention to the Scott brand, no matter how Cameron and Robin perform at the 2026 Unbound.

Prototype

Scott is 100% clear this 32″ gravel bike is a prototype, and won’t see the light of day as a production item. Will that change in the future? Another prominent brand outside of the USA, Merida Bikes, is reportedly working on a line of 32″ gravel and mountain bikes. Time will tell.

The Scott 32″ prototype gravel bike has many aerodynamic traits in its design, starting off with its long and low front end. Pay close attention to the short head tube, and slammed front end. Despite having a longer wheelbase as is routine with most gravel bike designs, this machine is the sleekest of any 32″ bikes I have seen in person, and appears to be more aero road bike than gravel bike. No stodgy performance around here. A carbon D-shaped seatpost smooths out the aerodynamic madness of this machine.

Wheels for Cameron Jones are reportedly by Industry Nine of North Carolina, with a 50mm+ 32″ carbon rim. Tires / tyres are by Schwalbe, 32″ RX, 50mm wide. Other technical details include Shimano GRX 1×12 speed Di2 drivetrain, 160mm GRX crankset, ENVE carbon road handlebars, ultra slammed Syncros aluminium stem, and Shimano XTR pedals.

Robin’s bike is a little different, being kitted out with a SRAM RED AXS XPLR 1×13 Speed drivetrain with SRAM Power Meter, Syncros handlebars and stem (Syncros is a Scott brand), 32″ x 50mm Schwable RX gravel tires / tyres, and something extra interesting, HT PK01 carbon road pedals. Wheel are unknown on Robin’s bike, but they are 50mm deep at minimum.

More about Scott “RC” Bikes

“RC stands for Racing Concept, Scott’s performance standard: products designed with racing intent from day one and validated in real competition. It was critical to get Scott’s top gravel athletes on the bike as early as possible in the development process, where fast, honest feedback makes all the difference. What works in theory must prove itself in the real world.”
