How It Works
Polar Drip Wax™ uses an aqueous emulsion with wax molecules temporarily suspended in a water “carrier” that flow into chain rollers and pins at room temperature. After application, the water evaporates and the wax cures into a solid, thin, low-friction film bonded directly to the metal surface and can be reapplied a second time for added longevity.
Stan’s Biobased Drivetrain Cleaner is Drip Wax’s sidekick, as it does more than clean the chain—it primes it. Its USDA-certified Biobased formula leaves a residual polar film that enhances Drip Wax’s polar nature, increasing Drip Wax’s adhesion to the chain, all without the need for harsh solvents.
When applying Drip Wax, the aqueous emulsion immediately carries amphiphilic molecules deep into the chain’s rollers and pins, where they electrostatically attract to steel and compete for surface area on the metal itself; the water evaporates; and those polar molecules cure into a solid wax film chemically bonded and mechanically interlocked to the chain’s surface. The thin nature of Drip Wax allows drivetrains to run with reduced drag compared to other wax lubes that use a more viscous formula to adhere the lube to the chain.

Application Process
- Prime: Stan’s Biobased Drivetrain Cleaner safely strips new chains and leaves a residual polar film, improving penetration and bonding without using harsh solvents
- Apply: drip Polar Drip Wax™ onto chain, covering every link.
- Penetrate: Drip Wax’s aqueous emulsion carries polar wax molecules into the chain’s rollers and pins at ambient temperature.
- Second Coat: a second coat of Drip Wax can be applied after 5-minutes
- Bond: amphiphilic molecules electrostatically attract to steel, anchoring to the chain’s surface rather than just coating it
- Cure: water evaporates, leaving a dry, matte wax film that resists contaminant pickup
