As gravel and XC racing evolve, riders increasingly demand a shoe that performs across a wide range of conditions. Fast gravel sectors, technical singletrack, steep hike-a-bike sections and long race days place different demands on footwear. Using biomechanical research and extensive testing with Giant gravel racer Brendan Johnston, the new Charge Pro was built to meet those demands.

The core of the design is a Giant-engineered full-carbon plate that balances race-level stiffness with off-bike versatility for technical terrain. Wet-layup carbon construction and size-specific tuning create a direct, responsive feel under power that’s consistent throughout the size range.

With a plate stiffness level of 180Nm/cm, the Charge Pro is the highest in the range, giving XC and gravel racers uncompromising efficiency and performance. By comparison, the Charge 1 model, dialed for efficient power transfer and low weight with engineered flex for off-bike moments, has a stiffness level of 110Nm/cm. The Charge 2 and Charge 3 models, designed with enough stiffness for effective power transfer under hard efforts and flexible enough for hike-a-bike sections, offer a stiffness level of 90Nm/cm.

A wider fit platform featuring Giant’s Three-Dimensional Arch Support system and a roomier toe box helps keep the foot stable over rough, unpredictable terrain. The structurally shaped carbon plate, EvoWrap midfoot retention, and tunable EPS footbeds work as a system, adapting to your foot without creating pressure points or overcorrecting natural movement. They are available in standard (D) and wide (E) sizing for a secure and supportive fit.

To further improve stability, Giant developed EvoWrap construction to work with the BOA® Fit System featuring dual Li2 dials. The circumferential design distributes pressure evenly across the foot and allows independent adjustment of the forefoot and instep. A woven mono-mesh upper with TPU reinforcement and a 3D-molded heel cup complete the system, providing secure retention and ventilation during sustained high-output efforts. And the gravel/XC-specific outsole of the Charge Pro features Giant’s G1 rubber compound for confident traction on tricky terrain.

The EvoWrap construction was developed to work with the BOA® Fit System featuring dual Li2 dials for more even retention from heel to forefoot. Independent adjustment zones let you fine tune the fit across the forefoot and instep. The woven mono-mesh upper with TPU reinforcement provides lightweight support without restricting ventilation. And a 3D-molded heel cup further improves stability during sprint efforts, climbing and sustained high-output riding.
