“Boardman CXR 9.4 – The ultimate CX bike with the latest technology including Shimano Ultegra Di2 11 speed gearing and integrated hydraulic disc brakes all assembled onto the Boardman full carbon CXR chassis. Race, training, on road, off road, this is the top of the range model in arguably the best CX range in the world.”

BoardmanCXR94-4This bike is owned by Gainesville, Florida resident, Shannon Woodruff, a recent convert to the world of dirt and gravel cycling. Boardman Bikes are seldom seen at the best of times and in the CXR variant, even less so.

BoardmanCXR94-3BoardmanCXR94-7Boardman Bikes equips the CXR 9.4 with 35mm tires (tyres), but Shannon has swapped the stock rubber in favor of the Kenda Happy Medium 700c x 40mm tire. Clearance is tight, but Shannon appreciates the wider footprint offered by a 40mm tire, which comes in handy over loose dirt, gravel and sandy road surfaces. Despite the tight clearance, the Boardman is a sharp looking machine that performs exceptionally well as a gravel / dirt road bike.
