Following its 2024 Eurobike Award-winning debut and appearances at key international cycling events, TRP and CLASSIFIED are now releasing the VISTAR // Powershift groupset to riders and dealers worldwide.

A breakthrough in drivetrain design, VISTAR // Powershift combines TRP’s precision VISTAR groupset engineering with CLASSIFIED’s Powershift 2-speed rear hub to unlock 15 or 16 individual gears, depending on gravel or road applications. TRP and CLASSIFIED have joined forces to create the best riding experience by merging their strengths. The result is a cutting-edge electronic system with unique functionality and features. VISTAR // Powershift redefines drivetrain standards, providing cyclists with improved control, efficiency and durability in both road and gravel applications.
Yannick Mayer, TRP Road and Gravel Category Specialist, said, “With VISTAR // Powershift, we’re ushering in a new era of shifting: intuitive, wireless, and limitless. Our QuantumShift technology takes the guesswork out of gear changes – riders simply shift up or down, and the system intelligently handles the rest. Full wireless communication keeps the cockpit clean with effortless setup. And with up to 16 unique gear combinations and a 530% range, VISTAR is ready for any terrain – gravel, road, and beyond.”

The VISTAR // Powershift is available in 1×15 setups for gravel and 1×16 for road, marking the widest gear range of any gravel or road bike groupset on the market. Based on a 12-speed cassette and a single chainring on the crankset, combined with the Powershift 2-speed hub, it effectively provides riders with 15 or 16 efficiently-spaced, distinct gears in a logical sequence – offering enhanced chainline efficiencies, under the rider’s fingertips.

Unlike traditional 2x drivetrains that rely on a front derailleur to move the chain between two chainrings, the VISTAR // Powershift system uses QuantumShift technology to move through the gear range with a single hand shifter. The system will simultaneously shift the Powershift hub (from 1:1 to 0.7 ratio) and the rear derailleur at specific gear changes to smoothly deliver 15 or 16 individual gears.
QuantumShift coordinates the hub gear change with the rear derailleur to deliver logical gear sequencing and uninterrupted cadence, unmatched by traditional 1x and 2x-drivetrains. It even optimizes gear ratio changes with separate shift paths for upshifts and downshifts to provide the most efficient gear changes for the rider.
In the diagram above, The blue arrows indicate the gear ratio path when shifting to a higher ratio (harder gear) with appropriate gear steps to quickly gain speed. The green arrows indicate the gear ratio path when shifting to a lower ratio (easier gear) with closer gear steps for more efficient downshifting and incremental changes for climbing. At any point, the rider can manually override the shifting when needed.

The signature CMD “Command” system by TRP features a wireless protocol for seamless communication between shifters, derailleur, Powershift hub and accessories. This technology provides consistent and fast shifting regardless of the circumstances, while allowing personal shifting preferences, drivetrain adjustments, and other features in the CMD app.

In addition, riders have the freedom to choose between QuantumShift and manual shifting. While QuantumShift eliminates the need for complex double shifting by offering 15 or 16 intelligently sequenced gears, riders who prefer manual control can access all 24 gear combinations for maximum precision and flexibility with a change in the CMD app.

Sander Laseur, CLASSIFIED Product Manager, said, “VISTAR // Powershift marks a true technological breakthrough. With VISTAR // Powershift, we’ve unlocked 15 or 16 individually sequenced gears that make shifting easier, smarter, and more intuitive. It’s a solution that’s both simpler and more innovative, pushing us ahead in the groupsets offerings. This collaboration with TRP reflects our shared vision for innovation to en_hance the rider experience and performance.”

The VISTAR // Powershift system includes the Powershift hub, TRP hydraulic disc brakes and shifters, crankset and bottom bracket, rear derailleur, cassette, Bar End Unit for communication, and KMC chain. TRP’s proven braking technology delivers the confident stopping power and refined modulation riders expect, perfectly complementing its next-generation shifting performance.
The groupset’s rear derailleur is designed with a removable and rechargeable battery for added convenience and serviceability. To complement the groupset, TRP’s Road (50T and 52T) and Gravel (44T to 48T) cranksets, along with CLASSIFIED’s Aero Crankset (46T to 52T), are available. TRP’s monoblock steel cassettes are engineered for optimal performance and durability, and designed to integrate seamlessly with the CLASSIFIED Powershift hub.

The VISTAR // Powershift groupset has already been validated in the field at elite gravel events such as Unbound, underscoring its performance and reliability in the most demanding conditions. CLASSIFIED gravel athlete Arno Van den Broeck put the system to the test during his 200-mile high-performance race in Kansas.
Gravel Cyclist has a VISTAR // Powershift Groupset, see our brief video below detailing the components. Build video to follow later, and long-term review of this innovative, outside of the box groupset.
