Why Did We Make This Bag?
Tailfin’s mission is simple: revolutionise adventure cycling gear to allow riders to spend more time enjoying their rides, rather than being distracted by unstable or poorly designed equipment. In extensive testing by our R&D division, we identified common shortcomings in rear top tube bags, such as instability, thigh and frame rub, bulging, waterproofing issues, restricted zipper access, and aesthetic compromises.
Our Rear Top Tube Bags comprehensively address all these issues, creating a sleek, stable and practical solution.
How Did We Do It?
While inspired by our front top tube bags, these rear packs are designed for different essentials – primarily tools and spares. Space constraints demanded a complete design overhaul, focusing on minimal width and maximum stability. We replaced the soft liner with an easy-to-clean, lightweight internal structure, reinforced by diagonally-aligned carbon struts that prevent deformation that ensure effortless one-handed zipper use.
Our signature waterproof materials combined with advanced 3D welding seek to maximise bag volume, minimize thigh rub and ensure peak compatibility across most bike geometries. Recognizing traditional zipper orientation issues, we reversed the zip direction and implemented a patented internal gutter system, effectively managing water ingress without compromising usability.
Lastly, we’ve included a removable, shock-absorbing insole at the bottom of the bag, making cleaning simple and enhancing protection for stored items.
