Oregon-based wheel manufacturer Astral Cycling has announced a newly revised version of one of their top-selling house-made alloy wheels – the Wanderlust. Known for their versatility and reliability, the Wanderlust profile is among the longest standing and best-selling wheel lines in the brand’s history.
“From the inception of Astral Cycling the Wanderlust was our best-selling wheelset.” Says Sales Manager, Loren Mason-Gere. “It was our original go-to, do-it-all gravel wheelset. As tire sizes and internal rim widths have increased, the gravel and adventure use-case has increasingly slid toward the Outback, while the Wanderlust became the all-road option. The newest iteration leans into that transition with a wider rim and deeper profile, made for go-fast on and off-road applications.”
The Gen 3 Wanderlust has increased the width from 22 to 24mm and moved to a semi-aero profile with
a depth of 30mm. The Wanderlust will be offered in three stock build configurations ranging from
$699.00 to $1199.00 or through their custom build configuration. Stand-alone rims are also available for $149.00.
“Astral’s best-sellers have historically been our most versatile options” says General Manager Jimmy
Krigbaum. “The new Wanderlust makes a stronger departure from our other off-road options by adding road-specific features while leaving the user a lot of flexibility.”
The new rim is hooked, approved for road, gravel and cyclocross use and can run tires ranging all the way from 28 to 50mm. The rims are made by hand in Eugene, Oregon, and like all Astral wheelsets, built by hand.
