The Bar Cage is Tailfin’s most accessible and universal front system to date. A stylish, stable, and easy-to-install solution designed to help everyday cyclists carry just about anything from coffee flasks to camp gear. Whether you’re commuting to work, heading to the park, or planning your first weekend overnighter, the Bar Cage is the perfect companion for life on two wheels.

“We designed the Bar Cage for people who love their bikes, not just for racing, but for living”, says Nick Broadbent, Founder at Tailfin. “It’s for riders who value simplicity, durability, and design and want their gear to just work without fuss.”

The Bar Cage is built around beautifully CNC-machined aluminium hardware, making it lighter, stronger, and more durable compared to other offerings. It’s a system that installs in minutes, fits virtually every bike, and won’t scratch your frame or rattle loose. Most importantly, it doesn’t look like a temporary fix. It looks like it belongs on your bike, and you’ll want to keep it there. There are even accessories available to mount your favourite light, GPS device or other Go Pro accessories in the best position possible.

Key Features:
- Ultra versatile: Carry bottles, bags, tools, or accessories with ease.
- Rock-solid stability: No swaying, no wobble, and no frame damage.
- Universal fit: Works with almost any bike; road, gravel, hybrid or MTB – 31.8mm or 35mm bars.
- Designed to last: Precision CNC’d hardware that looks as good as it performs.
- Modular, multi-mount capability: Easily strap items to the bars or bolt on accessories like lights and GPS units using M5 threaded eyelets.

The Bar Cage isn’t just a piece of race kit, it’s a lifestyle tool for cyclists who view their bike as a means to explore, simplify, and connect with the world around them. It’s also the perfect entry point into the Tailfin ecosystem. Welcome to Tailfin Country – a place where everyday rides become little adventures.

So whether you’re strapping on a yoga mat, picking up groceries, or finally planning that bikepacking trip you’ve been dreaming of, the Bar Cage has your back. Adventure is calling.

Why Did We Make This?
Building on all we learnt from the development of our highly rated Bar Bag System, the new Bar Cage takes inspiration from its more complex sibling and reduces it to a much simpler and universal form.
At Tailfin, we understand that most riders don’t necessarily need a complete bar storage system, but rather something that can be used to safely and securely attach an existing bag or item to the bike, with minimal fuss. The Bar Cage is designed to transform even the most unstable bar bag into the world’s most securely mounted one.
Another consideration is that many riders might already own a gamut of perfectly usable dry bags and don’t want to invest in a full system or new bags. Some may even own a bar bag that they want like the features of, but aren’t enamoured with the functionality. In our minds, the Bar Cage can be used to add more stability or adjustability to already-owned products or provide the perfect base for lightweight load carrying.

How Did We Do It?
With our current Bar Bag System proving to be incredibly stable and adjustable, we sought to incorporate the same functionality into a design that enhanced versatility and provided riders with more carrying options.
We knew it had to have class-leading strength and durability, which is why we opted to use 7075-T6 and 6061 aluminium alloys in its construction. Lifetime durability is further increased as we have anodised the cage in areas where maximum abrasion is likely to occur.
By developing the Bar Cage as a two-piece system, it gives the benefit of increased adjustability, allowing the Bar Cage to work with a broader range of bar and bike sizes to keep your load in the best place possible. Knurled/keyed slots ensure that once the Bar Cage is adjusted to your favoured position, it will remain in place for as long as you need it to.

The bar clamp is compatible with both 31.8mm and 35mm handlebar diameters, and is very discreet at just over 11mm in width. The Bar Cage has over 30mm of lateral adjustability so will accommodate most stem widths and work around aerobars.
The end result is a bar cage that is lighter, more adjustable and more compatible than most equivalents currently available (see Chart 1 below).

Introducing Dedicated Dry Bags
Whilst we acknowledge that the sky is the limit as to what you can strap to the Bar Cage, it wouldn’t be a Tailfin product if we didn’t offer the very best partner bags to work seamlessly with the design.
The new range of dedicated, fully waterproof dry bags features clever TPU Speed Hooks that engage perfectly with the Bar Cage and hold it in place, freeing your hands to easily strap the bag in place. Just as we’ve seen with the newly launched AP18 Cargo and Frame Bags, each Bar Cage Bag features an internal carbon strut to further enhance stability.

Three bag options will be available, with diameters of 135, 160, and 180mm and volumes of 8, 11, and 15 litres, respectively, providing the ideal storage capacity to meet the individual rider’s needs. All feature a classic double roll-top closure to provide simple access to contents, and are constructed from signature Tailfin Hypalon and Ripstop Nylon fabrics, which are welded, not sewn, in order to provide complete weather protection for your belongings. Additional wrap-around ‘tyre buzz’ TPU panels are deployed in areas that are subject to high wear, increasing the durability and life of each bag.
