VIDEO: The Myponga, South Australia Gravel Ride

Myponga is a small town south of Adelaide, South Australia, with a population of approximately 540 people circa 2006. Myponga is at the centre of rich grazing and dairy country, where herds of Friesian cows are often joined at dusk by mobs of grey kangaroos. Also abundant in the area is beautiful scenery, serene gravel roads and nary anyone to be seen. Almost the perfect ride.

This gravel ride began in Myponga, across to Myponga Beach, over to Normanville, though Inman Valley and finally, back into Myponga.

Thanks for watching!

After dot-watching the IndyPac for the last 2/3 weeks I am inspired to be a bit more adventurous and that video of yours makes me want to organize a boys dirty weekend away down there and hit up the gravel following in your wheeltracks.
Should take me togs and go for a swim/surf as well!

Next time I’m in ADL, I should setup a group gravel ride Facebook event. Would be nice to have company on a ride closer to town. Understandable if nobody wants to join me on a ride near Peterborough, unless you’re a fellow railway history nut 🙂

In fact, I was thinking about organising a ride where people could take the train to Gawler, and then begin a sweet ride from the railway station. I have ridden multiple times from Gawler and into the Barossa. A pretty nice 130+km ride springs to mind, that goes through all of the major towns – Freeling, Nurioopta, Tanunda, etc. Plenty of chances to hit up the bakeries, one of the things I really miss!!!

Thank you Anders. Very limited by the music choice these days due to copyright issues!
